How to Pay for Telegram Ads with Gram in 2026: Step-by-Step Top-Up via Fragment
A practical guide to funding the self-serve Telegram Ads cabinet in Gram (formerly Toncoin): wallet, exchange, Fragment, KYC, how much to top up, Gram Wallet status and the scams to avoid.

The self-serve Telegram Ads cabinet at ads.telegram.org is paid in Gram — the coin that was called Toncoin until 15 June 2026 (@gram). The money goes in through Fragment, Telegram's platform for crypto payments. This guide walks through the whole route, from buying Gram to seeing it on your ad balance, and lists the mistakes that cost people time and money.
If you are not sure the self-serve cabinet is right for you, start with which cabinet to choose: euro cabinets through resellers give geo and interest targeting, while the Gram cabinet targets only lists of channels, bots and search keywords.
What you need#
- A Telegram account to log in to ads.telegram.org.
- A TON wallet. Fragment names Tonkeeper and MyTonWallet (fragment.com/ads/topup). The blockchain is still called TON, so is the wallet.
- GRAM bought on a crypto exchange — Fragment's own instructions mention OKX and Bybit.
- Possibly identity verification. Fragment has required KYC through Sumsub for several operations since November 2024 (tginfo); be ready to pass it.
Step by step#
1. Open the ad cabinet. Log in at ads.telegram.org with your Telegram account. You can create and save ads without any budget to explore the interface (getting-started).
2. Start a top-up. In the cabinet choose Budget → Add Funds. You are sent to Fragment to pay (fragment.com/ads).
3. Prepare the wallet. Install Tonkeeper or MyTonWallet and write down the recovery phrase offline. Nobody — not Fragment, not Telegram, not a "support agent" — ever needs it.
4. Buy GRAM. Buy GRAM on an exchange and withdraw it to your wallet address. Check the network: the coin lives on TON.
5. Connect the wallet on Fragment. Press "Connect TON" on Fragment and confirm the connection in your wallet.
6. Pay. Enter the amount and confirm the transaction in the wallet. The balance appears in the ad cabinet once the payment goes through.
7. Launch. Set the CPM (the official minimum is 0.1 — the getting-started page still calls it "0.1 Toncoin"), pick channels, bots or search keywords and send the ad to review.
Fragment's top-up page also lets you fund an account "for yourself or your friends and colleagues" — handy when an agency pays for a client's account (fragment.com/ads/topup).
How much to top up#
Telegram does not publish a minimum deposit. Practitioners describe a start from about 20 Gram and recommend 150–200 Gram for a test that produces enough impressions to judge a creative (aksanov.digital, 14.09.2026). Remember that the Gram price floats — budget in Gram, not in dollars, and leave a margin for exchange and network fees.
Telegram's ad terms add three rules worth knowing before you top up: an unspent balance cannot be withdrawn, moved to another account or refunded; it is emptied after three years of continuous inactivity; and bid or budget changes usually take effect after 15 minutes and no later than 60 (ToS).
Where the ads will run#
- The Gram cabinet targets explicit lists of channels, bots and search keywords. There is no country or interest targeting.
- Search ads bought with TON/Gram are not shown to users in Russia, Ukraine, Israel and Palestine; search ads bought with Stars are shown everywhere (tginfo). Practitioners also report that Gram-cabinet ads in general are not shown to users from Russia.
- The ad policies are the same as in every other cabinet. Paying in crypto does not make gambling or adult ads acceptable.
What about Gram Wallet?#
Telegram is rolling out a built-in, non-custodial Gram Wallet: announced on 21 July 2026, opened to a select group on 31 August with a gradual rollout over the following weeks (Durov, Durov). Telegram has not said that ads can be funded from it directly. As of September 2026 the official top-up link in the Telegram client still points to fragment.com/ads/topup (API config). If you already have Gram Wallet, you can use it the way you would use any TON wallet — as long as it can connect to Fragment.
Warning: "Fragment API" services that ask for your seed phrase#
Search for "Fragment API" and you will find services and open-source scripts promising to automate Stars purchases or ad top-ups. Fragment has no public API for this: fragment.com/api is the site's own backend tied to a browser session. Third-party tools work on top of your Fragment web session and, in many cases, your wallet's seed phrase — and some send that seed phrase to their own servers. Watch out as well for look-alike domains and channels impersonating Fragment.
Simple rules:
- Never paste a recovery phrase into a website, bot or script.
- Top up only from fragment.com, opened from the ad cabinet or typed by hand.
- If a service needs your seed phrase to "pay for ads", it controls your wallet.

Common mistakes#
- Sending coins to the wrong network. GRAM must arrive on TON; a withdrawal on another network can be lost.
- Topping up the minimum and expecting results. At ~20 Gram impressions are few; plan a proper test budget.
- Expecting geo targeting. The Gram cabinet does not have it; use channel lists or a reseller.
- Advertising to Russia from the Gram cabinet. Search ads bought with Gram are not shown there, and practitioners say the cabinet's ads in general are not.
- Using "TON" instructions from 2025. The steps are the same, but exchanges and Fragment now say GRAM.
FAQ#
Is Gram the same as Toncoin? Yes. Same coin, renamed on 15 June 2026; the ticker changed from TON to GRAM.
Can I pay for Telegram Ads by card? Not in the Gram cabinet. Card and bank payments go through resellers of the euro cabinet. The Stars cabinet spends the Stars on the balance of the channel or bot you are promoting.
Is there a commission? Practitioners note there is no reseller commission in the self-serve cabinet; you still pay exchange and network fees along the way.
Do I need KYC? Fragment may ask for verification. It has required KYC for several operations since November 2024.
